must表示推測的用法
must 表示很有把握的推測,其意為“一定會”“肯定會”,只用於肯定句,一般不用於否定句或疑問句.表示對現在或未來的情況作推測,後接動詞原形表示對過去情況的推測,接動詞完成式.
如:
I must be the happiest woman on earth! 我一定是世界上最幸福的女人了。
No, he must be lying。 不,他一定在撒謊
He must have mistaken my meaning。 他一定誤會了我的意思。
在英語中,對於可能性可以採用很多種表達,例如must, can, may, might, could…。
must與can't
1、 must用於表示肯定的推測,把握性大,只可以用於肯定句:
Lucy must get very bored in her job. She does the same thing every day.
露西肯定厭倦了她的工作。她每天都在做同樣的事。
You've been travelling all day. You must be tired.
你已經旅行了一整天了。你一定累了。
2、 can't是must的否定形式,用於表示否定的推測:
You’ve just had lunch. You can’t be hungry now.
你剛吃了午飯。你現在肯定不餓。
The restaurant can’t be very good. It’s always empty.
這家餐廳肯定不怎麼樣。它總是空蕩蕩的。
3、 must have done和can't have done用於對過去的猜測,把握較大:
I’ve lost one of my gloves. I must have dropped it somewhere.
我丟了一隻手套。我肯定是把它掉在什麼地方了。
Sally hasn’t contacted me. She can’t have got my message.
莎莉還沒有聯繫我。她不可能收到我的留言
