一、用in的場合
（1）表示“在某年/月/季節”這個含義時，須用介詞in.例如：in
1980.
（2）表示“從現在起一段時間以後”時，須用介詞in.例如：They
will
go
to
see
you
in
a
week.
（3）表示“在某世紀”時，須用介詞in.例如:This
machine
was
invented
in
the
eighteenth
century.
（4）表示“在某年代或特定世紀某年代”時，須用介詞in.例如：This
incident
happened
in
the
1970''''s.
除此之外，morning
/
evening
/
afternoon
三個詞也常跟介詞in連用.
二、用on的場合
（1）表示“在具體的某一天”或“（在具體的某一天的）早上、中午、晚上”等，須用介詞on.例如：on
May
10th，1982，on
a
rainy
morning，on
a
summer
afternoon.
（2）表示“在星期幾”或“在星期幾的早上、中午、晚上”等，須用介詞on.例如：
on
weekdays，on
Saturday
morning.
（3）表示“在某一節日”時，須用介詞on.例如：on
Mid-autumn
Festival，on
Teachers''''Day.
注意：當morning，evening，afternoon被of短語修飾，習慣上用in，而不用on.例如：
in
the
early
morning
of
September
10th
在9月10的清晨in
the
late
afternoon
of
September
12th
在9月12日的傍晚.
三、用at的場合
（1）表示“某一具體時刻（即幾點幾分時）”，須用介詞at.例如：at
six
（2）用在特定的時候（時節、時機）時，須用介詞at.例如：
They
were
happy
at
that
time.他們那時很幸福.
（3）表示“在中午、在夜晚、在週末”時，須用介詞at.例如：
What
do
you
often
do
at
noon?你中午經常做些什麼?
You
can
see
many
stars
in
the
sky
at
night.夜晚你能看到天空中有許多星星.
（4）表示“在……歲”時，須用介詞at.例如：
At
the
age
of
nine
the
boy
could
swim
well.在九歲的時候，這孩子就游泳遊得很好了.
四、用by的場合
by+時間名詞.意為：“到…時（已發生某事），此時謂語多用完成時最晚、不遲於…，在…之前”.如：by
now/then/this
time/next
Friday/the
end
of/three
o`clock等.
By

year，another

gymnasium
had
been
completed.(2003上海·春）到去年年底，又有一座新體育館峻工了.
The
train
leaves
at
6:00
I
have
to
be
at
the
station
by
5:40
pm
at
the
latest.(NMET97)火車下午六點開，所以最晚我得五點四十趕到車站.
時間前介詞有at，in，on，for等。at表示一個點，比如at 2 o＇clock，at2：30。in用在表示一段時間的前面，如in the winter，in the morning等，但指具體的某一天或某天的上午或下午等要用介詞on，如on the morning of September the first，on Sunday，on weekends等，for也用在表一段時間前，但這個段通常是指延續時間，如for a long time，for nearly a whole afternoon。
